OPERATION UNDER UNUSUAL CONDITIONS - Contd.
(1)
Ensure that all tent lines and frame feet are staked.
(2)
Close and fasten all windows and doors.
(3)
Frequently check all tent pins and lines.
b Wet Climate.
(1)
If heavy rain is expected or the MCPS is going to be set up for a long period of time, dig a trench around the
outside.
(2)
Tent lines may shrink from dampness, so keep tent lines loose enough to prevent tent pins from being pulled
out of the ground.
(3)
Dry all MCPS components before repacking.
(4)
Make sure no leaks occur near the light set. Disconnect power if leaks occur.
(5)
Make sure no leaks occur on the mapboard assemblies or tables. Protect them if leaks occur.
6)
Make certain the outside roof cap corner flaps are securely fastened.
(7)
If the MCPS is complexed, make certain the rain gutter flaps are securely fastened against the walls of both
MCPS. The roof cap corner flaps should be securely positioned over the small opening where the rain gutter
extends from inside the MCPS.
c.
Operation in Snow/Extreme Cold.
(1)
Gently push up on the roof cap from inside the MCPS to remove snow that may have piled up.
(2)
If putting up the MCPS in snow conditions, gently press the snow down to provide a firm surface on which to
set up.
(3)
If ground is frozen too hard to drive steel tent pins, chop small holes to set them in. Fill holes with slush or
water and allow to freeze and anchor pins.
