(TMDE) AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
5-1. COMMON TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. For authorized common tools and equipment, refer to the Modified
Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE), CTA 50-970, or CTA 8-100, as applicable to your unit.
5-2. SPECIAL TOOLS, TMDE, AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT. No special tools or equipment are required to
perform direct support maintenance on the SICPS Boot Walls.
5-3. REPAIR PARTS. Repair parts are listed and illustrated in the repair parts and special tools list TM 10-
5410-230-13P covering unit maintenance for this equipment. Section II. MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
5-4. GENERAL. This section contains Direct Support maintenance functions applicable to the SICPS Boot
Walls as authorized by the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC), Appendix B, Section II, of this manual. The
following functions are included: repair. Procedures for machine stitching are provided in paragraph 5-5. Direct
Support maintenance personnel may also perform all functions allocated to the Unit and Operator levels.
Additional guidance for repair of canvas and webbing is provided by FM 10-16.
5-5. MACHINE STITCHING. All stitch types, except bartacking, shall conform to FED-STD 751. Type 301 and
401 stitching requires 5-7 stitches per inch. Bartacking shall be 1/8 inch in width and free of thread breaks and
loose stitching. All stitching will be 1/8 inch from edge or spaced 1/8 inch apart, unless otherwise specified.
a. Thread Breaks. Thread breaks in stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch at each break on
stitch type 301, and not less than 1 1/2 inches at each break at stitch type 401. Thread breaks in type 401 may
be overstitched with stitch type 301. Thread breaks noted during inspection must be repaired by overstitching
the existing stitching starting from a distance of 1 inch beyond the break. The ends of repair stitching are not
required to be backstitched.
