4-54.STEERING KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (Con’t).C.INSTALLATION1.Install new thrustwasher (15) and steeringknuckle assembly (6) on front axle (11) with kingpin (12).2.Install new roll pin (16) on front axle (11) and kingpin (12).3.Install two new welch plugs (14) on steeringknuckle assembly (6). Flatten each welch plugand stake four places evenly spaced.4.Install two new grease fittings (13) on steeringknuckle assembly (6).5.6.Install tie-rod (10) on steering knuckle assembly(6) with flatwasher (9) and hex castle nut (8).Torque hex castle nut to 80-110 lb.-ft. (108-149N•m). Install circle cotter (7).Install spider assembly (3) with brakeshoes andwedge brake components on spindle (4) witheight capscrews (5) new lockwashers (2). andnuts (1).Follow-onTasks:• Connect front dolly air line to airbrake chamber (see paragraph 4-72).• Install hub and brakedrum (see paragraph 4-75).• Lubricate steering knuckle assembly (see Lubrication Instructions, Chapter 3, Section I).4-118
