MAINTENANCE
5-1. GENERAL.
5-2. This section provides only Instructions to aid in isolating a segment fault to a shelter or a cable between shelters.
Other maintenance instructions are provided in the shelter manuals listed in table 1-1. Built-in test (BIT) and fault isolation
diagnostic (FID) are used to check data links between shelters. Test procedures are provided to check operation of the
intercom system
5-3. CHECKOUT.
5-4. DATA LINKS. Segment data links are tested using the SEGMENT BIT The SEGMENT BIT tests the operation of the
digital data link between shelters and tests the operation of the communication data links. These BIT routines generate
and transmit a test message The test message is retransmitted and compared with the original message. If the messages
compare, a PASSED message lS displayed on the QRU video indicator. If the messages do not compare, an ERROR
message is displayed.
5-5. Segment BIT. Perform the segment BIT as follows to check the segment TTY and DDL communication links
NOTE
The segment BIT is performed in the A- or IA-Shelter using CPU 1 2A1.
The KG-30, KW-7, TH-85, and Modem must be turned on and set up
according to their respective technical manuals.
a.
Outside shelter at connector panel, short XMT connectors to RCV connectors at DATA 1, DATA 2, and TTY (see
figure 1-4).
b.
On CPU 1, press MAN CLR and DISK LOAD switches.
c.
DISK RECOVERY message shall be displayed on QRU Video Indicator.
d.
At QRU Keyboard, select option 6 (CIU Initialization).
e.
When CIU Initialization is displayed, select MESSAGE ROUTING A and TTY/EIA OPTION 1 and press
RESPOND.
f.
When DISK RECOVERY is displayed, press S DISP button on keyboard.
g.
As displays appear on QRU Video Indicator, follow instructions on displays and enter following selections at
QRU Keyboard.
