party answers, press the TALK switch to talk and release it to listen. In some II Segment deployments, it is possible to
have more than 16 intercom stations. Therefore, each station is provided direct access to only certain selected station.
To call any station not included in the directory from a given station, the caller must call his A-Shelter supervisor who can
patch him to the desired station by pressing the button for that station. In some instances, such as when an I-Shelter
station is calling an I-Shelter station outside its network, the callers supervisor must patch to the called partys supervisor,
who must complete the patch. In all cases where intermediate stations are used for patching, the patching stations must
leave their handsets off the hook. Hanging up will release all pushbuttons and break the patch. Table 3-1 is a complete
Intercom directory for the maximum possible number of intercom stations. Figure 3-1 is a diagram of this maximum
hookup. Refer to the intercom set manual T 0 31S1-4-221-1 for complete details on the intercom set.
