CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
• Dry cIeaning solvent P-D-680, is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective
goggles and gloves and use oIny in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin,
eyes, end clothes, end DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flame or
excessive heat. The solvent’s flash point is 100°F-138F (38°C-59°C). If you
become dizzy while using cleaning solvent immediately get freshh air end medical
help. If solvent contacts eyes, Immedlatety wash your eyes and get medical aid.
l Compressed air used for cleaning or drying purposes, or for clearing restrictions,
should never exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Wear protective clothing (goggles/ahleld,
gloves, etc.) and use caution to a void injury to personnel.

Clean all metal components with dry cleaning solvent. Dry with compressed air.

Inspect components for bends, clacks, and damaged threads. Replace if bent or cracked.
3.
Inspect for excessive looseness or play between pin and front axle, and pin and connecting link. Replace
components that are excessively worn.

l perform steps 1 through 5 for M832 and M840.
l Perform steps 6 through 10 for M689.
Position connecting link (25) and spacer sleeve (23) on front axle (22).
Install pin (21) with new lockwasher (20) and screw (19).
Install bracket support (14) with two new Iockwashers (18) and screws (17).
Install bracket (16) in bracket support (14) with four screws (15) and new locknuts (28).
Install lanyard assembly (24) to correcting link (25).
If removed, Install two new bearing sleeves (12) in connecting link (11). Apply grease to bearing sleeves.
Position connecting link (11) and spacer sleeve (10) on front axte (9).
Apply grease to pin (8) and Install pin with new lockwasher (7) and screw (6).
Install bracket support (1) with two new lockwashars (5) and screws (4).
install bracket (3) in bracket support (1) with four screws (2) and new locknuts (13).
FOLLOW-ON TASKS:
• Install tie-rods (para 4-29).
l Install drawbar (para 4-54).
