Procedure
Escaping hydraulic fluid under
pressure can penetrate the skin,
causing serious injury to person-
nel. Relieve pressure before dis-
connecting hydraulic lines and
fittings. Tighten all connections
before applying pressure. Keep
hands and body away from pin-
holes and nozzles which eject
hydraulic fluid under high pres-
sure. Use a piece of cardboard or
paper to search for leaks. If any
hydraulic fluid is injected into the
skin, it MUST be surgically re-
moved within a few hours by a
doctor familiar with this type of
injury or gangrene may result.
Start engine (see paragraph 2-20).
Operate hydraulic control valve (see
paragraph 2-21) and inspect all hy-
draulic lines and fittings for signs of
leaks. Tighten any connections that
are loose. Ensure that hydraulic lines
are properly supported and protec-
tively wrapped, as required. Replace
any damaged component.
