OPERATION UNDER UNUSUAL CONDITIONS
(4) When erecting the MGPTS in severe cold, use care in handling and unfolding fabric
components. Rough handling can cause component damage.
Do not use non-vented type heaters. The
use of non-vented heaters will cause the
accumulation of Carbon monoxide gas.
Carbon monoxide gas is not visible and it
has no smell. If symptoms of headache,
dizziness, fatigue, nausea, or irregular
breathing occur, move affected personnel to
fresh air. Failure to comply with this
warning may result in personal injury or
death.
All fuel-burning heaters consume oxygen.
Adequate ventilation must be maintained at
all times. Keep roof vents clear of snow, ice
or debris. Open doors, windows, flaps, and
hook and loop fastener wall closures as
needed to introduce sufficient fresh air to
replace oxygen consumed by heaters. If
symptoms of headache, dizziness, fatigue,
nausea, or irregular breathing occur, move
affected personnel to fresh air. Failure to
comply with this warning may result in
personal injury or death.
Stay alert to weather conditions and adjust
all guy ropes at tent slips as required,
before snow, ice, or water weight damages
tent or injures personnel.
