EXPLANATION OF COLUMNS IN SECTION IIa.Column 1, Group Number.Column 1 lists group numbers to identifyrelated components, assemblies, subassemblies, and modules with their nexthigher assembly.The applicable groups are listed in the MAC in disassemblysequence beginning with the first group removed.b.Column 2, Component/Assembly.This column contains the noun namesof components, assemblies, subassemblies and modules for which maintenance isauthorized.c.Column 3, Maintenance Functions.This column lists the functions tobe performed on the item listed in Column 2.The maintenance functions aredefined as follows:(1) Inspect.To determine serviceability of an item by comparingits physical, mechanical, and/or electrical characteristics with establishedstandards through examination.(2) Test.To verify serviceability and detect incipient failure bymeasuring the mechanical or electrical characteristics of an item and com-paring those characteristics with prescribed standards.(3) Service.Operations required periodically to keep an item inproper operating condition, i.e., to clean (decontaminate), to preserve, todrain,to paint, or to replenish fuel, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, or com-pressed air supplies.(4) Adjust.To maintain within prescribed limits, by bringing intoproper or exact position, or by setting the operating characteristics tospecified parameters.B-1
