1-22. ENGINE.
a.
The engine is a one-cylinder, four-cycle diesel engine. It drives the dolly set hydraulic system; rotational
force from the crankshaft drives the hydraulic pump.

The engine is both air cooled and oil cooled.
c.
The fuel system has a low-pressure side which draws fuel from the fuel tank, through the filter, and to the
injection pump. The high-pressure side (injection pump and nozzle holder) pressurizes the fuel and injects it into the
combustion chamber.
d.
The mechanical-type governor controls the fuel injection. It keeps engine speed and output power at a
constant level with changes in engine load.
e. The electrical system consists of a starting system (starter, glow plug, etc.), a charging system
(regulator, etc.), and a key switch. A 12-volt battery supplies the initial power to the starter.
