woodland, snow, or desert. The support system, woodland or desert (NSN
1080-00-108-1173) is used with the woodland or desert, radar scattering or radar
transparent screen systems. The support system, snow (NSN 1080-00-556-
4954) is white in color and is used with the snow, radar scattering or radar transpar-
ent screen systems. Use one support system for each camouflage screen system,
except when erecting screens over 15 feet high. In this case, use two support sys-
tems. The support system consists of:
Twelve each four foot aluminum or plastic (Type I or Type II) pole sections
q
which can be extended to various heights.
Eighteen each aluminum stakes.
q
Eighteen each batten spreaders which support the screens. (Batten
q
spreaders can be of different design and are interchangeable).
A locking device called a spreader adapter assembly. (The batten spread-
q
ers and spreader adapter assemblies are made from a plastic type materi-
al).
A carrying case for the support system.
q
A repair kit is furnished containing enough material for users to perform
q
repairs on the screens.
Separate carrying cases are provided for the screen system and support
q
system.
NOTE
The camouflage screen systems should be stored in
a cool dry place.
The camouflage screen system is used to conceal stationary target signatures,
weapons, vehicles and semipermanent positions in situations where natural cover
and/or concealment may be absent or inadequate. The lightweight camouflage
screen system can be used as an aid in the concealment of prominent permanent
objects, and objects in a fixed pattern which present obvious targets, Permanent
installation camouflage, however, will usually require construction of concealment
features (false roofs, dummy buildings, garnished wire nettings, etc.).
