(Figure 4-4)(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)Select an aluminum skin patch that overlaps the puncture or cut by one inch inall directions.Position the aluminum skin patch over the puncture and lightly scribe the areaof the patch on the shelter skin.Remove all paint or foreign matter from the puncture area and an area approxi-mately one inch around the scribed mark using an emery cloth and toluenesolvent.With the aluminum patch over the puncture area, drill holes for 3/16 inch poprivets (#11 drill) around the perimeter of the patch, 1/2 inch from the edge ofthe patch and on one inch centers.Roughen the skin surface with coarse grit emery cloth. Be sure that the areais completely clean. Do not touch the area with the hands or wipe with an oilycloth.Fill the puncture with a fiber filled polyester resin. Then, smooth out evenly asshown in Figure 4-4, B.Allow the resin to set thoroughly. Then, sand off excess flushof the skin surface.Use the aluminum skin patch as a template to mark pop rivetof the shelter, and drill #30 holes in the skin of the shelter.with the contourholes in the skin4-11
